Get the Edge on Entering Photo Contests


Have you ever been interested in entering a photo contest, but didn’t know where to start? Do you have a feeling that your photos might win some awards? There’s only one way to find out, and that’s to enter the contests! Some aspects of entering photo competitions are straightforward, and some of them can be confusing, especially if it’s your first time. With so many photo contests available, from camera club to professional contests, there’s never been a better time to try and get some recognition in the photographic community, and perhaps even win some cash or camera gear!


In this 3 hour workshop you will learn the ins and outs of how to enter photo contests, and become confident when you pay the entry fee and submit your photos. You’ll learn about things such as the reasons for entering photo contests, understanding contest rules and small print, how to stay organized and selecting your photos to submit, and some techniques of how to ensure that your photos are technically ready to submit. This workshop is packed full of useful and interesting information, and after participating, you’ll feel confident how to approach and enter many different levels of photo contests.

Jason is a fine art photographer from Milton, Ontario, Canada who specializes in nature and abstract photography. His creative vision is fuelled by my love of the outdoors and explorative nature. His photographic passions include landscapes, abandoned places, wildlife and abstracts. He immerses himself in all aspects of my art and is involved in every facet of its creation from initial capture to print.

Jason is an X-Rite Coloratti, a Hahnemuhle Certified Studio, a ViewSonic Partner Photographer, part-time teacher at Humber College (B & W, Nature, and Macro Photography), and the Gear Columnist for Outdoor Photography Canada magazine. Jason offers a range of services including fine art printing and art reproduction. He always welcomes the opportunity to teach and inspire others, and teaches both the creative and technical aspects of photography through photo walks, presentations and workshops.
